LAHUG is one of Cebu City's bustling barangays. The new five-storey building with a facade of blue-tinted glass is believed to be the ONLY STATE-OF-THE-ART BARANGAY HALL in the country. And it also believes that LAHUG will easily become the future MAKATI OF THE SOUTH.
It houses the Office of the Barangay Captain, Office of the Sangguniang Barangay, Sangguniang Kabataan, Lupong Tagapamayapa, Barangay Health Center, Dental and Maternity Clinic (with In-house Physician, Nurses and Midwives), a Deputized Post Office, Fire Sub-Station, Social Hall, Roof Deck, Tanod Headquarters and Computer Room.
THE LAHUG BARANGAY HALL - the best-looking in the City, and perhaps the country.
ORIGIN
Long before Spanish time, when Lahug was yet a forestland, insurrectors used to seek refuge in the heavily foliated trees. Spaniards could not penetrate the nearly inaccessible paths of the jungle but the natives could easily weave in and out of the way (Lahug-Lahug in Cebuano) this forest came to be known as Lahug-Lahug but with the peoples known for using shorter terms it became known as LAHUG.
